Suspected ATM bomber killed in shootout with police in KZN

DURBAN - A man suspected of bombing an ATM in Esikhaleni, northern KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), has been killed while another was arrested in a shootout with police on Friday.

"Another vehicle which the suspects were using was spotted at Madlankala area and with the suspects failing to obey lawful instructions from the police and shooting at the men of law, a shootout ensued which resulted in one suspect sustaining fatal gunshot wounds. A firearm was found in his possession," said KZN police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda.
A search is currently under way for a third suspect who managed to escape.
The incident follows the killing of three suspected criminals shot by police on Tuesday in Inanda. Just last week, officers shot and killed four suspected criminals in Sydenham.
