With a fuel hike just two days away, Golden Arrow Bus Services said that commuters won’t face an immediate fare increase.
Petrol is set to increase by R5 per litre, while diesel will rise by more than R9 per litre on Wednesday.
The bus service said that it is implementing several measures to avoid a bus fare price bump.
Spokesperson Bronwen Dyke-Beyer said, “Golden Arrow bus services is extremely concerned about the forward-looking diesel price projections, but we will make every effort to absorb these cost increases without increasing fares at this time.”

At the same time, Cape Town's MyCiti bus service has also assured commuters that fares will not increase in April.
The Mayco Member for Urban Mobility, Rob Quintas, said MyCiTi fares are based on a diesel threshold price of R24.12, which is above the current wholesale price of diesel at R17.70 per litre.
He said there is no foreseeable increase in bus fares over the next two months.
“A fare increase is only triggered if the fuel price exceeds the next fare level for two out of three months or for two consecutive months. Only after this happens is the new fare implemented from the first Saturday of the month.”
