MPOX UPDATE: 'Transmission is low, but we must stay vigilant’ – Health Dept
Mpox is a rare but potentially serious disease, and there have been a few reported cases in South Africa.

There have been 22 confirmed cases of Mpox in South Africa as of the last two weeks.
However, there have been no confirmed new cases since last week.

Of these 22 cases, 16 have recovered completely, three are still undergoing treatment and three have unfortunately died.

The virus that causes Mpox is from the same family as the smallpox virus and has some similar symptoms.
Common symptoms of Mpox include a painful rash, fever, body pain, and low energy.
The Department of Health has called on anyone who suspects Mpox to go for testing.
Mohale says the threat is lower in South Africa than in other countries as the strain here is not so severe.
