JOHANNESBURG - The attorney of the man accused of killing former professional boxer Mark Strydom is confident the State will withdraw the charges against his client.
Former cop and security boss, David Knox, appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court on Monday, where he stands accused of Strydom's murder.

The pair got into a dispute at a bar in Edenvale on Saturday before Knox allegedly fatally shot Strydom.
Strydom was allegedly assaulted by Knox before Knox produced a firearm and fired at least two shots into the roof of the Grand Slam sports bar in Edenvale on Saturday.
Knox, a former cop and security boss, retaliated by shooting Strydom twice.
His attorney, Eric Bryer, claimed Strydom was highly intoxicated when the altercation between him and his client arose.
"The biggest fear was that ten people could have been shot dead in that bar because that was the state of mind of the deceased when he was shot."
Bryer said Knox’s case is built on self-defence.
"There’s overwhelming evidence in this case and I’m very confident the State will withdraw the case in time to come."
Knox was granted bail of R5,000 and will appear in court again next week.
