JOHANNESBURG - The family of a domestic worker killed for a R6 million insurance payout says her alleged murderer only contributed R500 to her funeral.
Nurse, Sithembile Xulu and her gardener, Simon Mogale are charged with killing 21-year-old Busiswa Nxumalo.
It's alleged in January 2022, the pair slit Busiswa’s throat and discarded her body at a dumping site in Lenasia.

They appeared at the Lenasia Magistrates Court on Tuesday - where their bail application was postponed after their lawyer fell sick.
Busiswa’s family was present in court on Tuesday, sitting directly behind the people accused of murdering their daughter.
It's alleged prior to killing Busiswa, Xulu took out three life covers from three insurers on her domestic worker, amounting to R6 million.
Busiswa’s uncle Njabulo Nxumalo said Xulu gave the family R500 for petrol to travel from Nongoma to Johannesburg.
“I went to the mortuary, opened the drawers, and identified the child however we still don’t know where she (Busiswa) was living. We took her home completely naked.”
Nxumalo said the family was shocked to find out Xulu had taken life covers on Busiswa and she was a prime suspect in the murder.
