City of Joburg forensic investigator killed in shooting

JOHANNESBURG - A member of the City of Joburg’s group forensic unit was killed in what appears to have been a drive-by shooting in the inner city.
Sources have confirmed to EWN that Benedict Sithole was killed on Thursday at an intersection on Booysens Road.
Sithole, an investigator at the City of Joburg's group forensics unit, was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside his red VW Citi Golf by members of the police on Thursday.
Sithole had approached an intersection on Booysens Road in the inner city when his vehicle was fired on.
He subsequently crashed into a wall and was declared dead on the scene by paramedics.
EWN understands that dozens of dockets of active group forensic cases relating to the City of Joburg were found in his vehicle.
Police are investigating a case of murder and no arrests have been made.
