CAPE TOWN - Residents in the community of Khayelitsha are reeling following a mass murder at a barbershop in Site C.

Unknown gunmen entered the shop and opened fire at the occupants, before fleeing the premises on Saturday afternoon.

Police have confirmed that of the four people killed three were children, aged 11, 12 and 5 years old.

The Khayelitsha Community Policing Forum's Monde Bambelo, however, said later that day, a fourth child died.

"It was a sad, sad, sad day... It was a taxi, a white taxi... it arrived and it stopped and started shooting at the barber shop. There were four guys inside the taxi. As to why - we are still clueless as a community, as shocked as we are... we don't know what triggered these people."
