DURBAN - Four suspected criminals have been shot and killed in a shootout with police in Harding on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast.
The group is understood to have robbed a businessman who had come from the bank.
It marks another deadly shootout involving the police and suspected criminals in the province.

Police said this was an intelligence-driven operation where they had received a tipoff about a planned robbery at a mall in the Harding area, and just after the robbery took place, police acted in a bid to arrest the four suspects.
Police said the four opened fire at the police, which then led to the shootout.
“The suspects refused orders and opened fire at the police,” said police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda.
“A shootout ensued, and four suspects were shot and fatally wounded.”
