JOHANNESBURG - The vote count in the Eastern Cape is not far from completion, with the African National Congress (ANC) set for another landslide victory.
The ANC is currently leading the pack with 65% of the vote, followed by the Democratic Alliance (DA) at a distant 12%.
The Eastern Cape joins provinces like the North West and Limpopo, who are all sitting at over 60 percent.
IEC officials in the province are meeting with political parties to deal with certain objections as part of the Party Liaison Committee.
ActionSA provincial leader, Athol Trollip, accepted the ANC's landslide but had some questions for Eastern Cape voters.
"The people are still voting in the majority for the ANC and I can’t work it out. I can't fathom it. because I spend every day of my life in the Eastern Cape. We have the highest unemployment, we have the worst socio-economic indices and people are still voting for the ANC."
With 72 percent of the vote complete, the ANC is all but guaranteed another outright win, whether it gets a two-thirds majority or not.
