Police kill 5 suspected cash-in-transit robbers during shootout in Mpumalanga
The police acted on a tip-off and in the process the team recovered five rifles, two pistols and four vehicles

JOHANNESBURG - Police have killed five people believed to be cash-in-transit robbers during a shootout in Mpumalanga.
Officials say they were killed earlier on Wednesday after police received a tip-off about an attempted robbery that occurred in Witbank.
According to the police - five people were killed, eight were arrested and nine others managed to flee the scene.
"The team recovered five rifles, two pistols and four vehicles. The suspects will be charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of prohibited and unlicensed firearms and ammunition as well as with CIT (cash-in-transit)-related offences," said police spokesperson Mavelo Masondo.
This is after nine suspected criminals were killed in KwaZulu-Natal on Wednesday morning.
