JOHANNESBURG - Residents and businesses in Johannesburg are expected to be hit with more water cuts and electricity outages this week.

Joburg Water is urging consumers to comply with level one restrictions.

The utility said the persistent hot weather continued to drive up water consumption.

As water woes continue in parts of Gauteng, Johannesburg Water has called on households and businesses to come to the table as the utility intensifies its water conservation campaign.

Joburg Water said it's implementing daily internal interventions to ensure that residents in the metro have access to water.

Currently, areas including Linden and Roodeport are facing low water pressure to no water as a result of the high demand.

The areas were previously deprived of water for about 12 days after the Eikenhof pump station was struck by lightning.

Joburg Water's level one restrictions include not watering gardens between 6am and 6pm.
