Mastermind behind AKA's killing could still be out there, says Tony Forbes
Speaking during the court appearance of five men accused of AKA's murder, Tony Forbes said the missing piece of the puzzle is the origin of the money used to pay the suspects.
DURBAN - The father of slain rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes says he’s convinced that the mastermind behind his son’s murder is still at large.
Tony Forbes was speaking at the Durban Magistrates Court on Thursday during the appearance of five men accused of killing AKA and his friend, Tebello "Tibz" Motsoane.
Police revealed this week that AKA was assassinated in a coordinated attack in Durban in February 2023.

Among the five men arrested in connection with the murders is an alleged spotter who is believed to have followed the rapper from the airport to his hotel, and then to the restaurant where he was shot and killed.
Police said this is the person who led the operation and provided resources and money for the attack.
AKA's father, however, believes the real mastermind could still be out there.
“So the coordinator if I understand things correctly, received a sum of money and shared it with six other people. Where did that money come from?
"So, if it came through the banking system then the police should be able to pick up the trail and find out where it came from and continue the investigation from there. So is this the true mastermind? I don’t know, my gut feeling says no.”
