UFC Champion, Dricus du Plessis brought South Africans together with the phrase ‘hulle weet nie wat ons weet nie’ but what exactly does it mean?
Besides the direct translation (They don’t know what we know), he explains in a recent video clip that it is more of a statement than a question.
“It’s a statement that even though we’re underdogs, even though we don’t have what all these big countries have… we have all these challenges [and] it doesn’t really matter.”

The statement was famously adopted by the Springboks during their winning Rugby World Cup campaign last year – only fitting as du Plessis is a massive Bok supporter.
He adds that people don’t know what it means to be South African.
“[People] don’t know what we are willing to do to win and how far we are filling to go to be the best. We saw that with the Springboks.”
