EC cops launch manhunt after triple murder in Gqeberha

JOHANNESBURG - A manhunt is under way in the Eastern Cape for gunmen behind the shooting of two women and a nine-year-old girl.

The triple murder happened in Gqeberha on Monday night, when neighbours reported hearing gunshots before finding the victims inside a house.

Paramedics declared the women - aged 40 and 65 - and the child dead at the scene.

Detectives from the Provincial Serious Violent Crime Unit have been tasked with the case investigating three counts of murder

The police's Siphokazi Mawisa said the motive still unknown.

"Police will stamp their authority in ensuring that those involved are apprehended. They will leave no stones unturned without apprehending suspects and confiscate any weapon used in the commission of crime," she explained.

Authorities have appealed to the public for help, urging anyone with information to contact crime stop, the provincial detectives, or use the MySAPS mobile app.
