PIETERMARITZBURG - Sindiso Magaqa's family believes those behind the former African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) secretary-general's killing are responsible for the delays in his murder trial.

The matter has returned to the Pietermaritzburg High Court.

The family has called on the government to introduce a court that deals with politically-related killings to fast-track such cases.

Magaqa’s brother, Lwazi Magaqa, said it's high time the national government involved itself in the murder case.

He said with the delays the case had faced, it should be before a special court.

“Let there be a special court to deal with the political killings. This is going to help us so that this case can be faster and come to an end.”

He called on President Cyril Ramaphosa, Minister of Police Bheki Cele, and Minister of Justice and Correctional Services Ronald Lamola to help his family get justice for his slain brother.

The matter returns to court on Tuesday, where the third accused Mlungisi Ncalane will be given a date to undergo psychiatric evaluation.
