KWAZULU-NATAL - The State will lead more evidence in the murder trial of slain former African National Congress Youth League Secretary General Sindiso Magaqa on Monday.
The matter returns to the Pietermaritzburg High Court following a postponement in October last year.
A new State witness is set to take to stand when proceedings get underway.
Magaqa was wounded in an ambush in July 2017 and died in September of the same year.
During last year’s proceedings - the court heard evidence from Magaqa’s friends and colleagues.
They include Jaquille Msiya and Nontsikelelo Mafa who were both in the car with Magaqa when the shooting happened.
Four men are in the dock on charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder and the destruction of property.
One of the men on trial was positively identified by an eyewitness as the driver of the getaway car used by the alleged gunmen.
The National Prosecuting Authority's Natasha Ramkisson Kara said the State would continue leading evidence in the murder trial.
"The matter returns to the Pietermaritzburg on Monday; the case is currently at the trial stage and the matter will continue with the State leading further evidence in its case,” said Ramkisson.
All the accused pleaded not guilty on all charges.
