JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) has lambasted its suspended former president Jacob Zuma, describing him as a pseudo-revolutionary who is misleading uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party supporters.
Earlier on Thursday, ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula briefed the media on the outcomes of the party's national executive committee meeting held last weekend.
The party discussed issues including Zuma and the recent International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling on Israel's continued bombardment of Gaza.
At the core of Zuma's suspension is campaigning against the governing party as well as using the colours of its military wing uMkhonto weSizwe.
Mbalula took multiple jabs at Zuma, describing him as an irritation to the party and a counter-revolutionary who is trying to commit daylight robbery of ANC voters.
The party said Zuma had stolen way too much from the party to garner support, adding that he would not achieve his claimed two-thirds majority.
Mbalula reflected on Zuma's reign as president: "We had never dealt with somebody like him at the helm of the ANC, and our liberation struggle so may commit mistakes in how we deal with him but we will learn a lot and out of Zuma's experience revolutionaries will be born."
Despite the ANC's strong stance against Zuma, Mbalula acknowledged that Msholozi had supporters who would stick beside him.
Mbalula said the ANC will see its legal action through till the end, and not allow Zuma to interfere in the party's campaign this year ahead of national elections.
