WC top cop Patekile condemns killing of police officer in Mamre

CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Police Commissioner Thembisile Patekile has condemned an attack on a Mamre officer while on duty.
  
The police officer was shot and killed while attending to a domestic complaint.
 
Police said that the suspect resisted arrest and disarmed the 44-year-old sergeant, fatally shooting him with his service firearm.
 
The suspect fled the scene and is yet to be arrested.
 
The police spokesperson, Novela Potelwa: "Reports from the scene indicate that the 44-year-old sergeant and his partner had responded to a violence domestic related complaint when a scuffle broke out. Western Cape Provincial Commissioner General Thembisile Patekile has condemned the killing. DPCI detectives are investigating the murder case."
