JOHANNESBURG - ActionSA in Ekurhuleni has slammed what it called the illegal postponement of a council sitting in which a mayor would have been elected on Thursday.

The party said council Speaker Nthabiseng Tshivhenga had violated a council resolution to reconvene within seven days.

A motion of no confidence was tabled against Ngodwana after opposition benches accused him of running the metro to the ground.

ActionSA Ekurhuleni caucus leader, Siyanda Makhubo, said a meeting would be held on Thursday morning to map out a way forward.

"The election of an executive mayor is not an item that can be taken lightly as the entire administration is at risk every day as no political oversight exists. This resulting in a power vacuum. ActionSA must make it very clear that there’s no ambiguity in this matter."
