JOHANNESBURG - Access to water has been restored to the eastern parts of the City of Tshwane following weeks of interrupted water supply.
The city said its systems have fully recovered after the installation of a new pump at the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant.
The pump broke down earlier this month, leaving several parts of the metro without water and triggering protests in some communities.
On Monday, the city found that areas including Rethabiseng and Ekangala were not receiving water due to a valve that was tampered with.
"Full supply has been restored in Ekangala and Rethabiseng, except in Rethabiseng extension 4, due to the infrastructure network connection. The section will start receiving water once there is enough water pressure in the whole area. The high-lying areas are also receiving water," said the city spokesperson, Selby Bokaba.
