JOHANNESBURG - Multichoice has welcomed the ruling dismissing Facebook rapist Thabo Bester and celebrity doctor Nandipha Magudumana's applications to stop Showmax from airing the Tracking Thabo Bester documentary.

Earlier on Friday, the High Court in Johannesburg gave the streaming service the go ahead to broadcast the four part docuseries zooming in on Bester's infamous prison escape.

The court ruled that Bester and Magudumana's applications failed to show the documentary will infringe on their rights to a fair and balanced trial.

Multichoice's Steven Budlender said, "The fascinating documentary will shed light on the allegations against Thabo Bester and Nandipha Magudumana and allow the public the opportunity to make up their own minds and opinions about what took place.
