SAWS: KZN weather will clear up by the weekend

JOHANNESBURG - Despite a level six disruptive rain warning for most parts of northern Kwazulu-Natal, Tropical Cyclone Filipo, has weakened exponentially after ripping through parts of Mozambique.

The South African Weather Service said while rain is expected to continue for parts of northern KZN into Thursday, it expects the intensity of the storm to diminish within the next few hours.

Forecaster Wayne Venter said the weather will clear up by the weekend.

"That system is expected to move away from South Africa during the course of this evening. So we are expecting the rainfall to subside during this evening along the northern parts of KZN, but we still have some rainfall in the forecast for the next six to eight hours for northern parts of the province."
