DURBAN - Emergency services responded to the scene of a multiple bus crash on the N2 highway near Gingindlovu on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast on Sunday morning.

Reports suggest that the buses were ferrying Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) supporters to the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban for the party's manifesto launch.

Several people were injured.

KwaZulu-Natal police told Eyewitness News they were still gathering more information on the circumstances surrounding the accident.

EThekwini metro police spokesperson Boysie Zungu urged those attending the launch to drive safely.

"We can all advise motorists who are coming to Durban, especially to this event, that they need to be patient, always comply with road regulations because speeding kills. Rather be late than never.”
