ANC should be held accountable for Joburg CBD decay - ActionSA's Mashaba

JOHANNESBURG - ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba says the African National Congress (ANC) government should be held accountable for the decay of the Johannesburg CBD.
Mashaba was speaking at a media briefing in the inner city on Friday, outlining the party’s plans to address the housing crisis.

He announced that his party would release hijacked and abandoned buildings to the private sector for mixed-use development.
Mashaba said the illegal occupation of buildings and high crime rates in the inner city are the government’s biggest failure in the last 30 years.
"We must hold them criminally and morally accountable for this because who is now suffering? We note how many people died last year in one of the building fire. Every day our students are being mugged, there are rapes and our people are being killed."
