JOHANNESBURG - As South Africa marks 30 years of democracy ActionSA has slammed the government for failing to address the housing crisis and building hijackings in the country.
The party claims the RDP initiative has not yielded the desired outcomes with the housing backlog continuing to escalate.
ActionSA President Herman Mashaba will on Friday unveil the party's plan to address the housing crisis by reclaiming hijacked and abandoned buildings.
"In line with the work Mashaba did as mayor where he identified 643 hijacked buildings, he will unveil a plan to reclaim and expropriate hijacked and abandoned buildings and factories and hand them to the private sector for mixed-use development, including affordable accommodation and student housing," said Party Spokesperson James de Villiers.
