Claims of cash bribes paid to Mapisa-Nqakula should be speedily probed - Holomisa
Parliament Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula has been accused of taking bribes totalling R2.3 million from a SANDF contractor while she was the Minister of Defence.
JOHANNESBURG - United Democratic Front (UDM) leader Bantu Holomisa says claims of cash bribes paid to National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula should be investigated expeditiously.
Mapisa-Nqakula has been accused of taking bribes totalling R2.3 million from a South African National Defence Force (SANDF) contractor while she was the Minister of Defence.

The Sunday Times reported that Mapisa-Nqakula was named in an affidavit submitted to the Investigative Directorate (ID) by the owner of Umkhombe Marine, a company responsible for transporting SANDF cargo for military missions.
It's reported that the company secured tenders worth R210 million in 2019 for freight and logistics services.
Holomisa said Mapisa-Nqakula should answer the allegations.
“I can confidently say to the people of South Africa, the investigation was completed last year, and then we were told in December that this person will be arrested or appear in court.
“The police were stopped and [told] not to take any action until the SONA [State of the Nation Adress] has been finalised. The SONA has been finalised. What are they waiting for?”
