DURBAN - The South African Communist Party (SACP) has said that it expects the ANC manifesto launch to reflect on an implementation process on ways to grow the economy through the creation of jobs.

Thousands will gather at the Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban for the manifesto launch with ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa set to take to the podium this afternoon.

And as the clock ticks towards Ramaphosa’s address, supporters are singing and chanting songs in support of the organisation.

However, there are still a number of empty seats with more people expected to arrive in the coming hours.

Meanwhile one of the ANC’s alliance partners, the SACP has shared with Eyewitness News what they want to hear when the ANC eventually delivers its manifesto.

The communist party’s Solly Mapaila said “SACP knows the challenges it has to gear up and put the implementation process, and it is in this regard that all the key focus areas around economic interventions and decent job creation should receive appropriate attention in the manifesto.”

Mapaila also said that South Africa marking 30 years of democracy should be used to reflect on where the country finds itself and where it needs to go.
