JOHANNESBURG - Democratic Alliance (DA) leader John Steenhuisen believes the issue of cadre deployment will have an impact on the upcoming elections.

He said by highlighting the downside of cadre deployment, South Africans will be able to “join the dots” as to why the State is underperforming because of the African National Congress (ANC)'s policy.

Steenhuisen was on Friday briefing the media on the DA’s next step to get the ANC to release its cadre deployment committee minutes - as ordered by the Constitutional Court.

"Starting to join dots why cost of living is going through the roof and that is because the State’s ability to do these things has been so fundamentally hollowed out by cadre deployment, that these government departments cannot do their jobs."

Steenhuisen also said they will be appealing this week’s High Court ruling dismissing their application to have cadre deployment declared unconstitutional.

"We will also today be filing an application for leave to appeal the North Gauteng High Court judgement that was handed down on Tuesday."
