CAPE TOWN - There are only four days left until registration closes for matric candidates in the Western Cape who did not achieve their desired results.

Registration for the May/June National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams will close this Friday.

The Western Cape Education Department is encouraging those who did not meet the requirements to take advantage of the second chance matric programme.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to obtain one's NSC and it should not be missed. The content is fresh in the candidates' minds, so it would be beneficial to register to write soon," said the provincial Department of Education spokesperson Bronagh Hammond.

Hammond added that the province's second chance matric programme is also offering free tutoring classes to private candidates who are registered to write the May/June exams.

"Registration to enter the programme has already begun. Information on registration and tutoring venues can be found on the WCED website. The programme is expected to start at the beginning of March. We wish all our candidates all the best for their study preparation. You can do this."
