CAPE TOWN - Firefighters in the Cape Winelands District Municipality continue to battle two fires, one on the slopes of Bainskloof and another in Matroosberg.
Firefighting vehicles and crews are actively engaged at both scenes, with additional support from the ground teams.
The municipality says the fire lines are currently situated high up in the mountains and are not an immediate threat to lives or property at this stage.
Municipality spokesperson Anesca Roodt said strong winds were posing a challenge with the Matroosberg fire.
"Active firefighting will continue throughout the night. While the Bain’s Kloof pass remains open, motorists are advised to be cautious as it may be closed at short notice," he said on Monday.
