VERULAM - Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema made an appearance in Verulam, northern KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday.

He spoke at Mhlasini, where a handful of EFF supporters eagerly waited to hear from the firebrand politician.

The area has suffered a series of service delivery issues, with 2024 mostly characterised by water shortages.

Supporters in the area were keen to set their eyes on Malema, who arrived on Saturday afternoon.

Residents patiently waited on the commander of the red berets, many of whom were no doubt keen to share their stories of life under a government run by the African National Congress (ANC).

He, in turn, is expected to share his election message with supporters as he urges them to use the small remaining window to register for the upcoming polls.

Thobeka Mkhize, who is a member of the EFF, said she couldn't wait to see Malema elected into power.

“I am registered to vote EFF and I wish Malema to take over in this place so that the problems of water will be sorted."

Another resident, Khanyisa Jali, told Eyewitness News she would vote for the EFF because Malema kept his promises.

Malema’s visit on Saturday isn't just about this weekend, he is also trying to drum up support to fill up Moses Mabhida Stadium next weekend.
