CAPE TOWN - The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has sent out a warning of extreme weather conditions in parts of the Western Cape on Friday, going into Saturday.

The weather service said veld fires were expected in areas including Cederberg and the Cape Winelands district.

Worcester and its surroundings are expected to reach a high of 42 °C on Friday, while Clan William will be on a high of 44°C.

Forecaster Lauren Smith said the Mother City could also expect to feel simmering temperatures.

"For Cape Town city, we have a 32°C maximum starting at 22°C, then we have Paarl reaching 41°C starting at 23°C. Then we are going to the West Coast side, with Langabaan starting at 19°C and peaking at 35°C, Vredendal at 21°C and 45°C."
