Emergency teams finally contain all fires in the Cape Winelands region

CAPE TOWN - Emergency teams have contained all the fires that have been raging in the Cape Winelands region after days of stubborn flames that devastated the area.
This includes a blaze on the Brandvlei mountains.
Despite hot weather conditions, the municipality said the teams made significant progress on Friday.

Cape Winelands District Municipality spokesperson Anesca Roodt said firefighters will remain on high alert.
"Mopping up activities will persist, and some smouldering spots may remain after these operations. Teams will continue to monitor and remain vigilant throughout the night."
Meanwhile, in Overstrand Mayor Annelie Rabie said the municipality is now using aerial firefighting efforts to water bomb the remaining fire at Buffelsjag and Pearly Bay.
