CAPE TOWN - Alleged underworld gang kingpin Nafiz Modack has been moved from Helderstroom Prison in Caledon to Goodwood Prison in Cape Town.

Modack - along with 14 others – faces 124 charges related to racketeering and murder - including the assassination of top cop Charl Kinnear.

Kinnear was killed in front of his house in Bishop Lavis, in September 2020.

Modack informed Judge Robert Henney on Wednesday that he had been moved from Helderstroom to Goodwood.

Earlier this week, Modack requested to be moved closer to Cape Town - to make consultation with the State easier.

The accused made another request in court on Wednesday - this time to be moved to a bigger prison cell.

Modack told Judge Henney his cell at Goodwood Prison is inhumane as its area is 1.2m x 1.5m.

Judge Henney told Modack the request should be made with the Correctional Services Department.

The case continues with six of the accused, including Modack set to plead for the charges they face.
