CAPE TOWN - Police have destroyed drugs valued at R90 million following busts in the Western Cape and the Eastern Cape. 

The substances include Tik, cocaine and mandrax.

It is the fourth drug destruction after R800 million worth of drugs were destroyed in October. 

Police spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe, said that in this financial year alone, close to R1 billion worth of drugs had been destroyed.

“In the previous financial year, we destroyed R2 billion worth of drugs. It is important to note that the SAPS embark on this process on a regular basis,” she said.
