JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has called for one exam for all matriculants in the country.

Lesufi was speaking at a celebratory event honouring matriculants who performed exceptionally well at public schools across the province.

In a social media post earlier this week, Lesufi expressed his disdain for separating IEB and NSC exams.

Lesufi has likened the separation to education under the apartheid regime.

He said he would start taking steps to make this a reality.

"We don't want to discard any examination, we just want quality education for all our children so that we don't have this celebration here and someone is having a celebration there on something that is different."
