CAPE TOWN - Disruptive rains are forecast for Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal this evening into Wednesday.

The South African Weather Service said the heavy rain may lead to flooding in some areas.

Weather forecaster Vanetia Phakula said the rain would also affect the eastern parts of the Free State and Eastern Cape.

"For tonight, we have gone with the yellow level 4 for Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, KZN, and the eastern parts of the Free State and the North West province."

Phakula said a fire warning had also been issued for the Northern Cape province.

"It's mainly the central parts of the Northern Cape like going towards the Upington area."
