CAPE TOWN - The State’s first witness in the trial against alleged underworld figures, Mark Lifman, Jerome "Donkie" Booysen and their 11 co-accused for the murder of "Steroid king" Brian Wainstein is set to continue with his testimony on Tuesday.

Lifman and alleged Sexy Boys gang boss, Booysen, and their co-accused face 36 charges for various crimes, including the murder of Wainstein, who was gunned down at his Constantia home in August 2017.

The witness, who cannot be named, also allegedly conspired with the other accused to carry out various crimes for Lifman and Booysen.

According to the State, the witness was present when Booysen and Lifman allegedly plotted and agreed on the bounty for the murder of Wainstein.

The State says the witness, who played an integral role in Wainstein's murder, then took over the deceased’s illegal steroid business and paid portions of the proceeds to Booysen.

The witness is also implicated in the attempted murders of alleged underworld figure Nafiz Modack, Booysen's brother, Colin Booysen and others.

Proceedings ended on Monday with the witness telling the court about a fallout between the Booysen brothers related to an auction in March 2017.

The witness told the court Jerome became angry after Colin made a bid on a house that belonged to Jerome's alleged underworld rival, Modack.

The testimony continues in the Western Cape High Court on Tuesday.
