What constitutes as texting and driving?
The minute the phone pings, people can’t help but check their devices.
Can you check your phone at a red light? Perhaps at a stop street?
“So many accidents could be avoided… I get when you think it’s OK, because you’re not driving at the moment, but you’re still in control of a car.”

All of the above is a no-go, says Fihla.
“Even if your car is stationary at a traffic light - in South Africa, it is still a violation of the law to use a hand-held phone.”

“The definition of driving includes when a vehicle’s engine is running, even if the car is not physically moving… you can face a fine if caught.”
