Ramaphosa announces measures to improve South Africa’s ports

President Cyril Ramaphosa visited Cape Town on 22 June 2021 where he announced the establishment of the National Ports Authority as an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of Transnet. Ramaphosa said this was a necessary step towards turning around and improving the ports in the country. It was also announced that Transnet will be investing R100 billion over the next five years towards upgrading the port system.
