A recent report from Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) has revealed that South Africa’s public servants are lacking critical skills, particularly in technology.

These skills are essential for the effective management of public affairs.

“The capability of the state is a function of the extent to which the skills and competence of public servants talks to what they are supposed to do.”
- Professor Herbert Maserumule, Professor of Public Affairs at TUT

The study found that while public servants are familiar with modern technology, they are unsure how to utilise it to improve efficiency.
