The Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities held several meetings with the parties for the purpose of mediation.
Five people were shot dead when a splinter group allegedly forcefully entered the church on Saturday.
Five people were shot dead on Saturday following and alleged factional battles at the headquarters of the church in the west of Johannesburg.
This after a crowd of congregants were ordered to disperse.
It’s alleged ongoing conflict to succeed the leader of the church in Zuurbekom turned bloody when congregates allegedly attacked people who were inside, indicating that they were coming to take over the premises.
Police have arrested several suspects while still engaging hostage negotiators.
It’s believed two rival church groups were involved in this morning’s incident, although it is still unclear what the motive behind the attack was.
At least 6 cars riddled with bullets are at the scene of the shooting.
