Gauteng Transport MEC Ismail Vadi has confirmed that 620 people have been injured and the number of fatalities remain at three after a train crash at the Wolmerton train station in Mountain View, Pretoria.
Three people have died and over 300 others were injured during the collision at the Mountainview station. This video was supplied to Eyewitness News by a witness on the scene.
Transport Minister Cahit Turhan told reporters in televised remarks that three of those killed were operators of the train.
The governorate said in a statement that one of those killed was the train driver and that 46 people were injured including three in a serious condition.
The driver, You Zhen-zhong, 48, was granted bail of $16,167 after he was detained for investigation, the Taiwan Railways Administration said.
The first emergency calls were placed at 7:47am over the collision at a railway crossing in Sipplingen, a village by Lake Constance.
Relevant authorities are on scene and are investigating the cause of this incident.
