Shangase was shot and killed in Pietermaritzburg on Sunday night.
The regional taxi council was reacting to Police Minister Bheki Cele’s remarks earlier on Wednesday to investigate the taxi industry’s involvement in Thulani Shangase’s death.
The Police Minister was speaking during a visit to the home of slain Economic Freedom Fighters councillor candidate Thulani Shangase on Wednesday.
Police national spokesperson brigadier Vishnu Naidoo said the pair had not been formally charged for murder of provincial ANC councillor candidate Siyabonga Mkhize, but were being interrogated in connection with the case.
Thulani Shangase was gunned down at a voting station in Herwood in the Msundizi region where he was supposed to meet with other members on Sunday.
