Egypt hosts Sudan protest leaders ahead of landmark deal
The objective of the meeting was 'achieving peace' as the long-awaited deal is inked, the ministry said in a short statement on the discussions.
Sudan has been in a state of political turmoil since the army ousted veteran leader Omar al-Bashir in April, with dozens of demonstrators killed during street protests.
The killings come as protest leaders are due to hold talks with the ruling generals on Tuesday on the remaining aspects of installing civilian rule.
Direct talks between the council and the Forces for Freedom and Change coalition stalled and then collapsed altogether when security forces stormed a protest sit-in in central Khartoum on 3 June, killing dozens.
Angry crowds have taken to the streets in Khartoum and other cities since 19 December after a government decision to hike the cost of bread.
