Alcohol alliance concerned about eased sales under level 1 lockdown
The alliance is questioning whether allowing alcohol sales to resume as normal is wise with several public holidays coming up.
The Southern African Alcohol Policy Alliance's Maurice Smithers said President Cyril Ramaphosa has to touch on alcohol policy to give certainty, precisely because of COVID-19.
It’s also calling on South African Breweries to withdraw its legal challenge to government's decision to temporarily suspend the transportation and sale of alcohol.
It wants restrictions for drinking in public during the holidays.
