Russia misses deadline to pay doping fine
World Athletics, the sport’s global governing body, in March handed the federation a $10 million fine for breaching anti-doping rules.
The governing body of world athletics has suspended five Russian race walkers from competition pending further investigation of their participation in a training camp with a banned coach.
A further 47 banned coaches and athletes, including Ahn, had appealed the IOC decision but on Friday their appeals were dismissed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The Russians had appealed their exclusion from the Games by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) over the doping scandal from the 2014 Sochi Games.
US Senator John McCain, a frequent critic of the Kremlin, praised the IOC announcement.
