Moyane maintains intelligence unit established under Gordhan was unlawful
The state capture commission put it to him that the High Court in Pretoria set aside the Public Protector’s findings that like him said the unit was rogue.
Gordhan was cross-examined by Tom Moyane's lawyer advocate Dali Mpofu at the state capture commission on Tuesday.
Tom Moyane's advocate Dali Mpofu told Pravin Gordhan's advocate Michelle Le Roux to "shut up" as he tried to make an objection at the State Capture Commission of inquiry on 23 March 2021.
The court has also issued a punitive costs order against Busisiwe Mkwebane and described her conduct in the matter as "egregious".
During his testimony at the state capture commission on Monday, Gordhan acknowledged a unit was set up to investigate the illegal smuggling of cigarettes and illicit trade but maintained it was all above board.
The report had found an illegal unit was established at the revenue service and was used to carry out rogue operations.
The former SA Revenue Service spokesperson has also testified that important information was purposely withheld from him.
