Search for missing Muizenberg lifeguard ends after body washes up on shore
The 23-year-old seasonal lifeguard was knocked off a rescue sled while he and a colleague were responding to kiteboarders in distress on Saturday.
The incident occurred at a house in Marina Da Gama over the weekend.
It is understood the pair came under attack in Marina De Gama.
Both men were sitting inside the vehicle when they were attacked on Sunday night.
The colourful Victorian wooden beach huts are well-known in Cape Town, situated on the False Bay coast.
The homeless were initially temporarily housed at the Strandfontein Sports Field but after various complaints the site was shut down earlier this month.
The group said the situation was fast becoming a major health risk to the homeless and the surrounding community - and has made contact with authorities to intervene.
Liam Burgen and his wife were arrested on Monday morning after their 21-month-old child ran onto the beach and was spotted by nearby police.
Police said that the two men were part of a group of surfers wanting to hit the waves under lockdown conditions.
Liam Bulgen said there was still some confusion about what they were arrested for and that the police captain said the charge was for being on the beach which breaks the regulations.
The victims appear to have been burned to death.
He has been taken to hospital and is in a stable condition.
