Permission has still not been granted by the municipality for Wednesday’s protest in the CBD.
The Western Cape premier says in Cape Town alone, the population has almost doubled in 15 years.
Leaders from informal settlements in CT called on Western Cape Human Settlements MEC to resign.
Zille said provincial departments spent around 77 percent of their budgets on the poor.
Municipal staff members have removed debris from on the usually busy Lansdowne Road.
